Passports and Visas​

 United States citizens do not need a visa to travel to Italy or France  if your stay is under 90 days. You do need a valid passport that does not expire during your trip.

Arrival/Departure Details 

UMBRIA

• Class Dates listed on the website are arrival and departure dates

• Airport transfer from and to the Leonardo da Vinci Rome/Fiumicino Airport (FCO) aboard our private bus on scheduled dates. 

• The private bus leaves Rome Airport at 12:30PM, so schedule your flight to arrive in the morning.

• Airport welcome service and assistance with baggage

• 24/7 bi-lingual support with manager on site at all times

• 24/7 Access to all facilities

• Village orientation provided on arrival day

• All ground transport is aboard private bus or van with licensed professional  driver

• Return transport to the Rome/Fiumicino Airport (departs Monte Castello di Vibio 6 AM) with rest stop, so schedule your departing flight after 11:30AM to give yourself time to check in and go through security

• Departure service/airport assistance at airport

 

​BURGUNDY

Students fly to Paris Orly International Airport

Take the Metro Line 14 from Orly Airport to Paris Bercy Bourgogne- Pays d'Auvergne Station ( 20 minutes )

Take Regional Train to Mailly-la-Ville​ ( 2 hours)

We will pick you up at the train station for the short drive to Chateau de Mailly ( 6 minutes )

Departure- We transport you to train station at Mailly-la-Ville for return to Paris Orly Airport

Housing 

​

UMBRIA

​Housing is single room occupancy with shared bathrooms. There are two to three rooms sharing each bathroom. The Bedrooms, Dining Room, Library/Media Room and Terrace are located in, Asilo,  a fourteenth century convent, steps away from the Studio Building. Most rooms have wonderful views of the Tiber river valley.

If you are traveling with a spouse, partner or family we will make every effort to accommodate your specific housing needs as well. We can accommodate children in two-bedroom apartments with full kitchens.

• Unless otherwise specified, single occupancy accommodation is provided in our Asilo building, a 14th c. convent. All rooms have a beautiful view of the Tiber Valley Rooms in the Asilo building are shared bath (2-3 rooms per bath), but have a sink and vanity inside each room. (Rooms with private bath and AC, double rooms, apartments in the village, as well as group or villa accommodations are available for an additional fee)

• Linens, blankets, and towels are provided 

• Weekly housekeeping service with change of towels and linens 

• Free washing machine access, laundry facilities on request

BURGUNDY​

Housing is in the Chateau and in a Manor House  a few minutes walk from the Chateau grounds.

AC available in all rooms

There are a variety of historic rooms, with private bedroom/bathroom, and private bedroom/shared bathroom

Both the Chateau and Manor house offer living room, kitchen, dining room, and outdoor space

The Chateau offers a banquet room, and large media room.

A heated pool for student use, as well as bicycles

Linens, towels, blankets provided

Free washing machine access

Meals

​

UMBRIA

​Three Chef prepared meals are served daily, consisting of typical locally sourced Umbrian fare. Breakfast is served from 8-9AM, Lunch 1-2PM, and a four course Dinner with wine is served on the terrace at 8PM. Gluten free and other dietary choices are also available. Friday's are all-day excursions to sites in Umbria and Tuscany, with clients purchasing meals on their own during those trips.

​BURGUNDY

Breakfast from 8-9AM of fresh baked breads and croissants delivered from local bakery, Coffee and tea. Chef prepared catered French Lunch 1-2PM, and French Dinner with wine served at 8PM. During excursions to Paris and Vezelay, clients purchase their own lunch.

Art Supplies

 

You are encouraged to bring painting/Drawing supplies with you. If you are bringing art supplies with you make sure they are in checked luggage. Umbria Contemporary Arts provides basic materials like thinners, inks and oils in the Umbria and Burgundy Studios.

​

-There is a small art supply store in the Monte Castello di Vibio school, and the nearby town of Deruta has a large, well stocked art store for painting, drawing and ceramics supplies.

-There is no art supply store in Mailly la Chateau, but the nearby town of Auxerre has a well equipped art store, and we will be traveling to Paris at the end of the first week of class.

If you are enrolled in a ceramics class, clay and glazes are provided for your class. Once your class is set, your Instructor will contact you with a list of suggested supplies.

​

 

Payments,Registration and Refund Policy​

​

Course fees offer an all-inclusive experience. They include round-trip transportation to  Rome Fiumicino Airport to Monte Castello di Vibio for the Umbria program; or train station transport to Mailly la Ville for the Burgundy program. Single or double occupancy rooms (upgrades available in Umbria), three wonderful meals per day ( vegan and gluten free meals available), studios, daily class sessions with your instructor, weekly excursions to important art sites in Italy or France. and a group exhibition/reading at the end of your session.

 

You may enroll in an additional class in the same session (at a different time of day) for a discounted rate ($650 for a two-week class.

 

Options for registration:​

- Pay a deposit of $500 per Class

Class sizes are limited and registration is on a first come, first serve basis.

​

Due dates for remaining balances:​

May / June Sessions: before March 1, 2026

July / August Sessions: before April 1, 2026​

​

After you register, you will receive an invoice for your remaining balance, as well as instructions for paying the balance, via email.

 

Refund Policy

​

More than 90 days before the session start date:

You may request a full refund of your deposit or tuition.​

Within 90 days of the session start date:

Deposits are non-refundable

If cancellation occurs 60-90 days before session start date, a 70% refund of tuition will be granted.

If cancellation occurs  30- 59 days before session start date, recoverable costs of tuition only.

Cancellations received less that 30 days from session start date receive no refund.

In the event of low enrollment, a class may not run. In that case, you may enroll in another class, or receive a refund.

 

In cases of Force Majeure (such as a: strike, riot, acts of God, unforeseen illness or death,

or death of a family member) we highly recommend that your travel insurance policy

include coverage for any trip cancellation that may occur prior to or afterdeparture.
