Things To Know

Passports and Visas​

 United States citizens do not need a visa to travel to Italy if your stay is under 90 days. You do need a valid passport that does not expire during your trip.

​

Arrival/Departure Details

  • Airport transfer from and to the Leonardo da Vinci Rome/Fiumicino Airport (FCO) aboard our private bus on scheduled dates. 

  • The private bus leaves Rome Airport at 12:30PM, so schedule your flight to arrive in the morning.

  • Airport welcome service and assistance with baggage

  • 24/7 bi-lingual support with manager on site at all times

  • 24/7 Access to all facilities

  • Village orientation provided on arrival day

  • All ground transport is aboard private bus or van with licensed professional drive

  • There is a small art materials shop on site, and a large art supply in nearby Deruta

  • Return transport to the Rome/Fiumicino Airport (departs Monte Castello di Vibio 6 AM) with rest stop, so schedule your departing flight after 11:30AM to give yourself time to check in and go through security

  • Departure service/airport assistance at airport

Housing

​

​Housing is single room occupancy with shared bathrooms. There are two to three rooms sharing each bathroom. The Bedrooms, Dining Room, Library/Media Room and Terrace are located in, Asilo,  a fourteenth century convent, steps away from the Studio Building. Most rooms have wonderful views of the Tiber river valley.

If you are traveling with a spouse, partner or family we will make every effort to accommodate your specific housing needs as well. We can accommodate children in two-bedroom apartments with full kitchens.

  • Unless otherwise specified, single occupancy accommodation is provided in our Asilo building, a 14th c. convent. All rooms have a beautiful view of the Tiber Valley Rooms in the Asilo building are shared bath (2-3 rooms per bath), but have a sink and vanity inside each room. (Rooms with private bath and AC, double rooms, apartments in the village, as well as group or villa accommodations are available for an additional fee)

  • Linens, blankets, and towels are provided 

  • Weekly housekeeping service with change of towels and linens 

  • Free washing machine access, laundry facilities on request

Meals

​

Three Chef prepared meals are served daily, consisting of typical locally sourced Umbrian fare. Breakfast is served from 8-9AM, Lunch 1-2PM, and a four course Dinner with wine is served on the terrace at 8PM. Gluten free and other dietary choices are also available. Friday's are all-day excursions to sites in Umbria and Tuscany, with clients purchasing meals on their own during those trips.

Art Supplies

 

If you are bringing art supplies with you make sure they are in checked luggage. UCA provides basic materials like thinners, inks and oils in the studios, and there is a small art supply store in the school. The nearby town of Deruta has a large, well stocked art store for painting, drawing and ceramics supplies.

If you are enrolled in a ceramics class, clay and glazes are provided for your class. Once your class is set, your Instructor will contact you with a list of suggested supplies.
